We want all our pupils to enjoy learning, to see the reason for it and then use the skills and knowledge taught throughout all their lessons. 

In order to achieve this, we base all our learning on the Essentials Curriculum, which is a creative and thematic approach to learning that is mapped to the primary national curriculum to ensure comprehensive coverage of national expectations.  

We believe children learn better when they can see the links between the subjects they are studying are encouraged to use their imagination and apply their learning to engaging contexts. Our curriculum provides many learning challenges throughout the academic year that require children to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding effectively. The Essentials Curriculum provides a rigorous framework that outlines the end of year expectations in all subjects called Milestones.  

Our curriculum is assessed in accordance with our assessment policy using our Depth of Learning tracker and this enables teachers to track progress of all pupils through the subjects, and ensures that there is the appropriate level of challenge and support.
